Chelsea return to Premier League top four with 3-1 win over Wolves

Chelsea jumped back into the Premier League’s top four with a 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge. The Blues doubled their lead when Palmer’s inviting free-kick was nodded across goal by Chalobah, with Madueke applying the finishing touch. This was Wolves’ 19th goal conceded from a set-piece in the league this season, highlighting their ongoing struggles with defending dead-ball situations.

Chelsea ultimately closed out the match, leapfrogging Newcastle United and Manchester City in the process. However, the Blues have now kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 home league games, a statistic that will concern manager Enzo Maresca.

The win sets up a crucial clash for Chelsea next Saturday against Manchester City, while Wolves will host Arsenal earlier that same day. Wolves remain above the bottom three only on goal difference and will be desperate to pick up points to avoid being dragged into the relegation zone.
