Cristiano Ronaldo playing alongside Lionel Messi is something that we can only see in video games or fantasy football. However, this can soon be a reality as its rumored that Ronaldo could land in Camp Nou next season.
All clubs are going through difficult financial times; the coronavirus pandemic hit club revenues hard at the box office. Without a precise date when fans can return to the stadiums, teams are looking for where to make cuts to save some money.
Juventus wants to cut their players’ wages expenses, and first on the list is Cristiano Ronaldo, with an approximate salary of $663,000 per week. Ronaldo still has a two-year contract with the Turin club, but La Vecchia Signora wants to free from the player as soon as possible to give their finances some oxygen.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has already started looking for a new club for his client, and FC Barcelona is one of the top candidates.
The arrival of Ronaldo to Barcelona would be a great event, and to see the Portuguese play alongside Messi would be something spectacular. The problem is that Barcelona has no intention of acquiring Ronaldo. The conversations between Ronaldo’s agent and the Catalan club have been because Mendes is under pressure to find Ronaldo a club as soon as possible.
Mendes has even had contacts with PSG and some MLS clubs in his quest to find a new club for his client.
Despite Ronaldo recently declaring that he does not plan to move from Turin and that he already has his goal of getting a third Scudetto next season, the nearly $35 million that the player costs Juventus could result in him having to move earlier than planned.
