Paris Saint-Germain have suffered another injury blow as their star man, Ousmane Dembélé, has suffered another hamstring injury, three days before their clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Balloon d’Or winner, who recently returned to action, suffered the setback after coming on in the second half during their 1-0 win over OGC Nice at the weekend.
According to reports, Dembélé complained of a hamstring injury, one of the reasons Luis Enrique has not been putting him in the starting line-up.
This latest setback is a cause for concern for European champions three days before the Champions League clash with the Bundesliga champions.
The 2025 Ballon d’Or winner has been complaining of pains, which initially sidelined him for a month; it was a severe case.
The former Barcelona forward has now suffered a recurrence of the injury on Saturday afternoon.
Dembélé was reportedly troubled by a hamstring injury earlier in the day. When he finally came on in the 72nd minute, he played for about twenty minutes and touched the back of his right thigh while celebrating with his teammates.
A video captured Dembélé’s lips, where he said, “My hamstring hurts. It hurts so much”. He also grimaced when addressing his teammate Achraf Hakimi.
Already used to not starting the star, Enrique will surely find a solution without Dembélé as the Paris club aim to defend the title they won for the first time last year.
Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia had already made the right side of the attack his own, and he seems to thrive there, especially in the Champions League games.
The Spaniard will have to call on Brady Barcola again to deputize for Dembélé.
The club will also have to find a lasting solution to the problem and needs to avoid rushing Dembélé back to action.
Enrique might have to wait for Desire Doue, who is also injured, should he return before Dembélé is one hundred percent fit.
But for now, Barcola appears to be the only alternative.
