Senegal became the first team to move into the next round of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after their 3-1 thumping of Namibia on Tuesday.
The Teranaga Lions had thrashed the Namibians 4-1 three days ago in Senegal before the convincing second leg display in Johannesburg.
Famara Diedhiou opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before the Namibians equalised five minutes later.
The second half showed more distinction between both sides after the stalemate at halftime.
Alanyaspor forward Diedhiou scored just 6 minutes after the break to put Senegal back in front and he completed his Hattrick with six minutes left off Sadio Mane’s assist.
Senegal sits top of Group H with an unassailable 12 points as there are two more matches left to play in November.
Namibia who are their nearest challenger sits second with 4 points from four games played and cannot catch up.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Thomas Partey scored a long range free kick as Ghana pipped Zimbabwe 1-0 in Harare.
The Ghanaian skipper on the night struck on the 31st minute to put the Black stars ahead, and consequently seal the victory.
It’s not easily laid down for the West Africans yet, who sat top of group G temporarily with 9 points before South Africa’s game against Ethiopia later on Tuesday.
The South Africans went on to beat Ethiopia by a single goal to nil to retake top spot in the group.
Meanwhile, Riyadh Mahrez was on target in Algeria’s 4-0 win over Niger Republic on Tuesday evening.
Ismael Bennacer, Aissa Mandi and Baghdad Bounedjah were also on target for the AFCON champions.
However, they are still stuck on points with Burkina Faso in second position with both teams set to clash in the final group game of the group stage.
