Borussia Dortmund have secured a double transfer deal with Chelsea, bringing in young talents Carney Chukwuemeka and Aarón Anselmino.
According to reports, the pair are traveling to Germany via private jet to finalize their moves after completing medicals.
The transfers mark a strategic coup for Dortmund as they bolster their squad for the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.
Dortmund’s offer for the Chelsea duo totals €25 million. Chukwuemeka, a promising midfielder, joins permanently for €20 million, while defender Anselmino arrives on loan with a €5 million fee but no purchase option.
This move strengthens Dortmund’s roster, particularly in defense, which has been hit hard by injuries.
The transfers come at a critical time for Dortmund, who struggled in their Bundesliga opener, drawing 3-3 against St. Pauli.
A late red card to emergency center-back Filippo Mané in the 85th minute allowed St. Pauli to erase a 1-3 deficit.
Anselmino, a versatile defender, is expected to slot straight into Dortmund’s injury-depleted backline, providing much-needed stability. Chukwuemeka, known for his dynamic play, should add creativity and energy to the midfield.
Chelsea, meanwhile, continue their strategy of managing squad depth while generating funds. The €5 million loan fee for Anselmino and the €20 million from Chukwuemeka’s sale reflect their approach to balancing talent development with financial prudence.
Dortmund’s swift move for both players highlights their ambition to compete at the top of the Bundesliga and in European competitions.
As the duo prepares to integrate into their new team, fans eagerly await their impact. Anselmino’s immediate role in defense and Chukwuemeka’s potential to shine in midfield could prove pivotal for Dortmund’s campaign.
This double transfer underscores the club’s proactive approach in addressing early-season challenges and building for the future.
