Electrifying Barcelona crush Feyenoord 5-1

Barcelona emphatically launched their Champions League campaign, dismantling Feyenoord 5-1 at the Camp Nou with a high-octane display that extended their free-scoring start to the season. 

Raphinha and Lamine Yamal orchestrated the rout, combining brilliantly as the Catalans overwhelmed their Dutch visitors in pouring rain.

The Brazilian winger netted a brace while the 19-year-old sensation contributed a goal and two assists. 

Karim Adeyemi and Gabriel Jesus also opened their European accounts for the club. Barcelona struck early, needing just under three minutes to take the lead. 

Yamal’s clever flick released Raphinha, who cut inside, left two defenders sprawling, and bent a precise left-footed shot past Tjark Ernst into the bottom corner.

The second goal arrived in the 22nd minute. Adeyemi exploited space on the left flank and curled a spectacular effort beyond the goalkeeper. 

Joan Garcia then denied Anis Hadj Moussa in Feyenoord’s first real threat, while Joao Cancelo rattled the woodwork on a swift counter. 

After the interval, Feyenoord improved, yet Nacho Ferri had a goal disallowed in the 56th minute for leaving too early and then taking the ball from Garcia’s hands.

Barely two minutes later, Raphinha claimed his second, timing a perfect run onto Pedri’s through-ball and slotting home. 

Garcia next smothered Ouassama Targhalline’s effort, only for Ferri to pounce on the rebound; another tight offside decision again ruled it out. 

Yamal finally got on the scoresheet in the 77th minute, curling a free-kick from the edge of the D that traveled straight through the wall and wrong-footed Ernst.

Sem Steijn pulled one back five minutes later, turning in Goncalo Borges’s cross at the far post, but Barcelona restored their four-goal cushion in the 85th minute. Jesus rose highest to glance Yamal’s cross into the net. 

This was the 21st occasion Barcelona have opened a European Cup or Champions League campaign at home, and they marked it with style, clinical finishing and complete control against a resilient yet overmatched Feyenoord side.
