Rumors pointed towards FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as the top target for Manchester United but manager Erik ten Hag could be after other Barça player to sign in this transfer market.
This year’s transfer window is still open and managers all over the world are trying to get the best players available to improve their teams. Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s new manager, is under the radar as he is after some players in FC Barcelona, though it seems he wants someone other Frenkie de Jong or Memphis Depay.
Frenkie de Jong had been in almost every single transfer rumor surrounding Manchester United, as he could be used as exchange currency for FC Barcelona. That said, it would not be easy to get him out of the team, as he wants to stay and succeed there.
Erik ten Hag, on the other hand, is building up a new project in Manchester United and while he has been linked to the midfielder in recent days, as mentioned above, the player does not want to move to England. Now, ten Hag could be interested in someone else from FC Barcelona.
According to The Sun, Sergiño Dest could leave FC Barcelona this summer and Erik ten Hag might be interested in the right back for around €20 million. The move would not be an easy one to make though.
This has been a complicated transfer window for FC Barcelona and the Premier League. Barça had been in a dispute against Chelsea for Jules Kounde, Sevilla’s center back. Also, they’re trying to convince Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta to join them. If Azpilicueta agrees, it would open the door for Dest to leave Spain and move to Manchester, as he would no longer have a place with FC Barcelona.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is Man U’s starting right back right now and Diogo Dalot is behind him. Despite this, Erik ten Hag is reportedly not happy with them and he would be looking for a familiar weapon in Dest.
