Everton signs Conor Coady on a season-long loan

Conor Coady became Everton’s fourth signing of the summer on Monday as he joined the Toffees on a season-long loan deal from Wolves.

The Goodison Park side needed to inject new defenders into the squad after losing Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey to injury in their Premier League opener on Saturday evening.

Everton lost 1-0 to Chelsea on Saturday and saw Godfrey go out injured in the game.

Conor Coady will come and wear number 30 for the Merseyside after making a move which he said wasn’t hard for him to decide on.

“As soon as I heard the interest, I really wanted to be part of it straight away. I’m over the moon to join,” Coady said.

Coady isn’t the first Wolves player to join Everton this summer as Ruben Vinagre, a former Wolves teammate, also moved to Goodison Park and former Burnley center-back James Tarkowski and forward Dwight McNeil were signed earlier.

Conor Coady joined Wolves in 2015 from Huddersfield. He was on the bench for their opening day defeat to Leeds United on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ben Godfrey is expected to be out for three months after his injury on Saturday in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The 24-year-old suffered a fractured fibula on Saturday, had surgery on Monday, and will start rehabilitation immediately.

Meanwhile, the full extent of the injury of 27-Year-old Colombian defender Yerry Mina isn’t known yet after the defender was pulled out of the game in the second half due to an ankle ligament problem.

Everton will face Aston Villa next at Villa park in Saturday’s early kick-off in their next Premier League game.

Meanwhile, Wolves signed Portuguese striker Goncalo Guedes on a £27.5M deal from Valencia on Monday. The deal is a five-year deal.

The former PSG player has had 28 goals in 146 La Liga games since 2017. He will be an option for the side after losing Raul Jimenez to injury in the pre-season.
