Former Manchester United player Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez has urged the club to move on from Sir Alex Ferguson’s era. Ferguson led the Red Devils with great success in his 26-year stint with the club and took the club to new heights during his long tenure.
However, the Mexican footballer believes it is important for Manchester United to move on from the great man. The club hasn’t been able to win consistently since Ferguson left back in 2013. In fact, the club has changed five managers since then.
Meanwhile, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez played under Sir Alex Ferguson from 2010 to 2013 and knows what is it like to play under the tutelage of the legendary coach. The Mexican played 117 matches across all competitions under Sir Alex Ferguson in which he scored 50 goals and provided 16 assists.
He said quoted by The Sun: “It doesn’t surprise me because in life it’s not easy having a manager for 26 years in the way that Sir Alex did it. To substitute that man like that is not easy. It is like winning the lottery. Do you think anyone you hire afterward is going to be able to do 80 per cent of what Ferguson did?”
“My point of view is that after Ferguson brings so much pressure that it just isn’t going to work out. United needs to now get over the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson has gone.”
“Would we like to have someone similar? Yes, yes, yes. But Sir Alex has gone and it is never going to be the same. So United has to adapt and allow the next manager to do it in his own way.”
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson won everything which was there in the books. He won 13 Premier League titles, two UEFA Champions League trophies, five FA Cups, four EFL Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and the FIFA Club World Cup with Manchester United. But since his departure, the Red Devils have won only three major trophies.
