Granit Xhaka is enjoying a spectacular season with the Gunners and has been instrumental in the outstanding performance the team has shown.
The Swiss has found under the command of Mikel Arteta the best version of him, but his contract with the club expires in the summer of 2024, and so far, there have been no discussions about an extension.
The player has said that his family will be the most critical factor in deciding about his future. At the moment, they are very comfortable in London and seem not to want to leave the London capital.
However, the Gunners are seeing in Xhaka an opportunity to generate funds to bring in new players. Also, with the possible arrival of a player like Declan Rice, the options for Xhaka could be limited.
About the situation of the player, Mikel Arteta said. “I’m not going to reply to certain stories about Xhaka. “I’m extremely happy with Granit; he’s having an incredible season.
“This is probably the best season he’s had at the club. We are really happy to have him.”
Several clubs are rumored to be interested in Xhaka’s services; according to The Mirror, Bayer Leverkusen is the most interested in taking the player to the Bundesliga.
The German club has tried to land the player on previous occasions without success. Still, now that Xabi Alonso has taken over as the club’s manager, they hope that his close relationship with Arteta will make things easier.
Despite his public spat with Arsenal fans in 2019, Xhaka has once again won the affection of the club’s supporters through his dedication and performances on the pitch. He is currently one of the most popular players on the team.
