Barcelona and France forward Antoine Griezmann has said he is happy and proud to play at the Camp Nou for FC Barcelona.
The striker made the revelation after scoring a brace in the 2-1 win against Villarreal at the La Ceramica on Sunday evening in the La Liga.
As Real Madrid dropped points on Saturday against Real Betis, Ronald Koeman’s side knew that they needed to win in order to be at an advantage in the race for the La Liga title.
However, Villarreal had other plans as Samuel Chukwueze took advantage and gave the home side the lead in the 26th minute of the game, but Antoine Griezmann responded immediately for Ronald Koeman’s side with a goal in just a minute after to draw level.
He then scored the winner just before the break to give Barcelona all of the 3 points that put them level on points with Real Madrid with 71 points but with a game less.
With the win, Antoine Griezmann revealed his desire to play for Barcelona irrespective of the position as long as he’s on the pitch trying to help his teammates.
“I try to be there, among the opposition centre-backs, I need to make space and create room for my teammates. It’s not my natural position, but I’m proud to be at Barcelona and play with these teammates. Sometimes I’m asked to mark, other times I lead, but I always work for the team” he said.
Barcelona are just 2 points away from the top and a win in their outstanding game against Granada during the week could see them move to the top of the La Liga table with a point above Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona will now face Valencia at the weekend. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad defeated Eibar 1-0 on Monday evening in the La Liga.
