Juventus seem to have identified Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo and Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro as options to replace Alex Sandro in January.
Since the contract of the Brazilian left-back will expire in June 2023, he could be set to look for action elsewhere. This is because the Bianconeri are unwilling to offer an extension following unconvincing performances over the last few seasons. Being one Of the highest earners at the club, this is unjustifiable.
Tuttosport reports that the Serie A giants want to sign a new left-back in the January transfer window and both Grimaldo and Guerreiro are on their radars.
The Turin club are believed to be monitoring both because both players’ contracts will run out in June. This is why the Bianconeri wants to reach an agreement with them before entering talks with their clubs in January. This way, they can secure their signatures for a low price.
Since Benfica could qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League, Grimaldo might not want to join Juve, that could be relegated to the Europa League. So, the Portugal Elyernational will not want a move to the Allianz Stadium if the Bianconeri drops to Europa League.
Here, the only option Juventus has is to try to secure a deal for June.
Juve manager, Max Allegri also needs further reinforcements in defence. This has made Evan Ndicka of Eintracht Frankfurt one of the players with an expiring contract monitored by the club.
Meanwhile, Juventus loanee Denis Zakaria could return to the Allianz Stadium if he fails to impress at Stamford Bridge.
His future at the club is dicey as he is yet to make his debut for the club since moving from Juve on loan.
This could be the reason Chelsea boss Graham Potter is yet to decide. According to the manager, the Swiss is ‘training well’ and ‘is an important part of the team.’
But there have been rumors that the 25-year-old could return to Turin in the January transfer window.
Speaking at a press conference, Potter said there is competition for places in the midfield and lauded him for his patience.
