Haaland speaks after Man City is crowned Premier League champions

On Sunday, a second-string Manchester City side made light work of Chelsea when they were crowned the Premier League champions.

The Citizens were already confirmed Champions on Saturday when Arsenal lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest, a result that also confirmed their safety.

The outcome made Sunday’s fixture between Manchester City and Chelsea at Etihad Stadium a mere formality, and expectedly; Pep Guardiola fielded a second-string side.

A twelfth-minute goal from Julian Alvarez was all that was needed to show dominance and go seven points clear at the top of the table.

After the game and trophy presentation, summer signing and a top candidate for the season’s top scorer, Erling Haaland, was delighted with the result and how his first season in the Premier League has gone.

“It is unreal. I don’t know what to say. I am so happy. These are the memories I will remember for the rest of my life. I don’t know what to say. It is special. I am going to enjoy this day. It is amazing. Debut season, 36 goals, Premier League trophy, and two more finals to come.” Haaland said.

Despite the title confirmation and trophy presentation, Manchester City still has two games left in this season’s Premier League campaign, a UEFA Champions League and an FA final.

Pep Guardiola’s team will face Brighton, who secured European football on Wednesday before next weekend’s final game of the season away at Brentford.

Brighton, who sit in sixth, need a single point to be assured of a UEFA Europa League spot ahead of Aston Villa, whom they coincidentally face on the final matchday of the season.

The Seagulls managed to secure a 3-1 win over relegated Southampton, while West Ham compounded the woes of Leeds United with the same scoreline earlier on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Monday will see Newcastle United host Leicester City in a game that the Foxes need to win.
