Havertz confident of good outing ahead of World Cup opener

Germany concluded their 2026 World Cup preparations on a positive note, securing a 2-1 victory against the United States in a friendly match at Soldier Field.

The win marked their ninth consecutive victory across all competitions, underlining their strong form as they head into the tournament as one of the favorites.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring for Germany, while Leroy Sane added the winner after the interval.

The hosts responded with a spectacular volley from Antonee Robinson, but it was not enough to prevent defeat against Julian Nagelsmann’s side. Havertz also played a key role by providing the assist for Sane’s decisive goal.

In a post-match interview, the Arsenal forward expressed satisfaction with the overall display, particularly in the second half.

He stated that Germany had played a good game and improved significantly after the break. Havertz added that the sequence of nine straight wins had filled the squad with confidence as they approached their opening World Cup fixture.

Although he acknowledged that the performance was not flawless, especially against co-hosts USA, Havertz emphasized that there were many encouraging signs.

The team demonstrated quality in attack and resilience, traits that will be essential in the competitive environment of the World Cup.

Germany are scheduled to begin their tournament campaign against Curacao on June 14. Coach Julian Nagelsmann provided positive news regarding the squad, confirming that veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer would be fit to start in goal for the group-stage opener.

The result against the United States serves as a timely morale booster. With momentum firmly on their side, Germany will travel to the World Cup believing they can challenge for the title.

Nagelsmann’s men have shown steady improvement in recent months, blending defensive solidity with clinical attacking play.

Fans and analysts alike will now watch closely to see whether this run of form can translate into success on the biggest stage.

Havertz and his teammates appear ready and motivated, carrying both confidence and ambition into the tournament.
