Hojlund scores first Premier League goal in Man United’s comeback win

Manchester United’s first win in five games didn’t come easy, as they had to come from behind to defeat Aston Villa 3-2 at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.

Denmark forward Rasmus Hojlund got his miracle on boxing day as his goal came as the winner for Manchester United, who went into the break 2-0 down.

Josh McGinn and Dendoncker scored in the 21st and 26th minute with help from Andre Onana in goal for Manchester United with questionable goalkeeping.

The second half started with Manchester United on fire. Alejandro Garnacho scored three minutes into the second half, but his effort was removed by the VAR. However, the Argentinian scored before the hour mark to equalize for the home side while he got a brace in the 71st minute.

From then on, it was Manchester United all through till Rasmus Hojlund got his first Premier League goal in the 82nd minute, sealing the win for the Red Devils.

“It has been a while [waiting for a first league goal] but yes I am very happy. I am the happiest man alive right now. You can see from the celebrations as well. Like [Garnacho] said, we believed in ourselves until the very end and got the win today. As the manager has said before, I have scored a few goals in the Champions League, but of course, it has been a while in the Premier League before scoring. Now I have got it, and I hope I can just build on that and keep going. Yes, I remember the goal. First-time finish in off the post, good finish so I am happy. I am happy for the three of us attackers as well because we showed a lot of character today and a lot of confidence.” Hojlund said.

The win ends a losing streak that has stretched the last four games before Tuesday’s fixture for Manchester United and pits them in sixth on the table.
