Chelsea manager Graham Potter has promised the Blues fans an exciting fixture when Borrusia Dortmund visits Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of sixteen clash.
The Blues lost the first leg thanks to a lone goal from Karim Adeyemi in Germany, and they have been in poor form, although they won their last Premier League game on Saturday in a 1-0 win over Leeds United.
The gaffer admitted that his team is aware of the big challenge ahead and wants to o follow up their win at the weekend with another win. Potter described Tuesday’s encounter as a big game and a chance to get into the quarterfinal.
“It’s a big game; it’s an exciting game. It’s a chance to get through the quarterfinals of the Champions League. It’ll be a special night at Stamford Bridge. Our thoughts are on being positive and trying to win the game. They [Dortmund] are a top opponent. They are in a fantastic vein of form. Winning games constantly. It’s a good challenge for us, a big challenge for us. We’re excited for it and looking forward to it.” Potter said.
Chelsea will have to win with a two-goal margin on Tuesday, but they have only scored one goal since Feb. 11. January recruit Wesley Fofana scored the winning goal on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Dortmund has been in imperious form, winning all of their last five matches in all competitions, including a 2-1 win over RB Leipzig to stay in touch at the top of the Bundesliga table along with Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich tops the Bundesliga table only on a superior goals difference as they are leveled on points with Borrusia Dortmund.
In Tuesday’s second UEFA Champions League fixture, Benfica will host Club Brugge after a 2-0 win in the first leg.
