I feel betrayed, don’t have any respect for Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he feels betrayed by the club in a shocking interview with Piers Morgan. The Portuguese also revealed that he doesn’t have any respect for the manager Erik Ten Hag as the Dutchman doesn’t respect him.

Ronaldo disclosed that the top executives at the club didn’t want him at Old Trafford. The 37-year-old added that the club lacked empathy when he returned late for the pre-season due to the illness of her daughter.

Ten Hag had said that Ronaldo isn’t fit because he missed the preseason and thus hadn’t picked him regularly in the team’s starting XI.

“I feel betrayed. I feel some people don’t want me in the team, not only this year but last year too.”

Ronaldo was also not happy with Ralf Rangnick, who was given the team’s reins in the previous season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked.

“If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Manchester United? I’d never even heard of him.”

In fact, Ronaldo has made only four starts in the ongoing season for Manchester United. Ronaldo also didn’t start in the Sunday clash against Fulham.

“I don’t have respect for him (Ten Hag) because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never gonna have respect for you.”

Before the start of the previous season, there were reports that Ronaldo could join Manchester City. However, the veteran said that Sir Alex Ferguson played a key role in his move to the Red Devils.

“I followed my heart. He (Sir Alex) said to me, ‘It’s impossible for you to come to Manchester City’, and I said, ‘OK, Boss’.”

Ronaldo went on to reveal that Manchester United hasn’t improved as a team since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

“The progress was zero. Since Sir Alex left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed. I think the fans should know the truth.

“But you have some things inside that don’t help (us) reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal. A club with this dimension should be top of the tree in my opinion and they are not, unfortunately.”
