However, Fluminense’s defense held strong, and the Brazilian side sealed their win with a stunning goal in the 90th+3 minute. Substitute Hercules scored a curling edge-of-the-box shot that left Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer with no chance.
The match was played in front of a crowd of 20,030 at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, which has a capacity of 74,867.
Fluminense’s victory means they will join fellow Brazilian club Palmeiras in the quarterfinals. They will face the winner of Manchester City’s match against Al-Hilal in the Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Friday.
