After renewing their interest in Davide Frattesi, Inter Milan have issued a provocative response, proposing a straight swap involving Andrea Cambiaso as the price of doing business.
Tuttosport, via CalcioMercato, reported that there is already a direct contact between all parties, with Luciano Spalletti driving the push to reunite with the midfielder he worked with extensively during his time as Italy national team coach.
Frattesi was one of Spalletti’s most productive players at the international level. This has made the Juventus head coach keen on bringing him to Turin regardless of whether the club secures Champions League or Europa League football next season.
The latest development follows Fratessi’s relationship with Inter, which seems to have deteriorated due to a lack of playing time.
His relationship with the club management seems to have also broken down irreparably.
This is why the midfielder has been reportedly pushing for more playing time for over a year, only to see his minutes diminish further.
He almost joined Premier League side Nottingham Forest, as the deal fell through when Liverpool refused to allow Curtis Jones to move to Inter in the opposite direction.
As things stand, a permanent summer exit now appears inevitable for the creative midfielder.
Although Frattesi prefers a return to Roma, he has shown an openness to joining Juventus.
Now the sticking point is Inter’s demands as they value the midfielder at no less than €30 million.
That’s why they came up with a counter-proposal of a like-for-like swap involving Cambiaso, a player who has also attracted interest from Como.
This move by the Nerazzurri is considered provocative by the Bianconeri, as the two clubs remain far apart in valuation.
The player has an option of pushing for an exit by buying out the remainder of his deal, or both clubs returning to the drawing table to finally agree on a deal.
