Joe Aribo joins Southampton on a four-year deal

Nigerian midfielder, Joe Aribo, has joined Southampton from Scottish club Rangers on a four-year deal.

The English Premier League club announced the deal in a statement on Saturday. The Saints reportedly paid an initial six million pounds for the twenty-five-year-old.

Aribo spend three seasons at the Ibrox, scoring twenty-six goals in one hundred and forty-nine appearances.

In his first interview as a Saints player, Aribo stated that the move is a dream come true for him as a player.

“It’s an amazing club with a lot of history here. The Premier League is the best league in the world. I’ve been watching it since I was a young boy. It’s always been a goal for me to play here and show what I can do on this stage. It’s an amazing feeling, a dream come true.” Aribo said.

Aribo played for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon, where the Nigerians were knocked out in the round of sixteen.

The West Africans also failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar after failing to get past Ghana in the qualification series in March.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have agreed on a fee with Manchester City for England winger Raheem Sterling.

The deal is worth up to fifty million pounds, including add-ons, with Sterling set to arrive at Stamford Bridge on a five-year contract.

However, the deal’s announcement is still subject to Raheem Sterling completing a medical. Sterling won four Premier League titles with Manchester City and has been City’s second-highest goalscorer behind Sergio Aguero since Pep Guardiola took over.

He will become Chelsea’s first signing since the take over by a consortium led by Todd Boehly.

Chelsea has already seen exits with Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku moving to Inter Milan on a loan deal while Danish defender Andreas Christensen moving to Barcelona on a free transfer.
