Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior has finally agreed to put pen to paper for a contract extension at Real Madrid. The Brazilian will sign a five-year extension which will see him at the Bernabeu till 2027.
The details of the deal have not been announced by the club, but according to top football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been agreed to keep the star at the Santiago Bernabeu for another five years.
Vinicius scored the winning goal for Real Madrid against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final in May. He also lifted the La Liga title.
It was his second La Liga title since arriving in Spain from Flamengo in 2018 for €46M. Having won the La Liga in 2019–20, he also won the Supercopa de España in 2020, and 2021–22 and FIFA Club World Cup in 2018.
Vinicius scored 22 times and made 20 assists last season, becoming influential alongside French forward Karim Benzema for the double.
However, there was immediate doubt over the commitment of the Brazilian, especially with just two years left on his current contract, which runs till 2024.
Similarly, Real Madrid felt the deal was not enough for the kind of stature Vinicius had grown to have in the last two seasons at the club.
The new deal is expected to set Vinicius Junior’s release clause at €1 billion, especially after PSG’s interest in the player, trying to lure him to the French Capital.
The 21-year-old will sign the new deal when he returns from holiday for the pre-season.

He had expressed that winning the UEFA Champions League is the start of many more to come at Real.
“I hope to have many trophies at the end of my career. It’s normal with age [to take time to develop]. I became a professional when I was 16 years old and still not fully formed. Real represented a huge amount of pressure, but I had the help of [Karim] Benzema, Marcelo, and Casemiro, who are very experienced players.” Vinicius said.
