Karim Benzema returns for Real Madrid

Real Madrid has been handed a huge boost with the return of Karim Benzema to training on Wednesday. Karim Benzema had to sit out the last international break as France finished third in their league A UEFA Nations League campaign.

The French striker sustained an injury in Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory against Celtic in Scotland some weeks back in the UEFA Champions League.

The Los Blancos’ top scorer last season is still going to be working on his return to full fitness with a return date yet to be set for him.

Benzema was seen to be training with the group as others returned from international duty on Wednesdays. Real Madrid remains top of the La Liga table with a perfect record of six wins from six games.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side has been able to manage to stretch their perfect start, even in the absence of Karim Benzema. Meanwhile, it is also a huge boost for the French national team just a month ahead of the World Cup.

The striker has 3 goals and an assist in four La Liga games for Real Madrid this season. However, in his absence, Federico Valverde and Rodrygo have both stood up to the test to lift Real Madrid.

They have also had to rely on Vinicius Junior and Luka Modric at times, and such was the case in Real Madrid’s last La Liga game, which was a 2-1 victory against rivals Atletico Madrid in which Federico Valverde and Rodrygo scored in a 2-1 victory.

Real Madrid’s La Liga return will be at Osasuna before they face Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League 3 days later.

The subsequent weeks will be one busy schedule for clubs with just about three days in between matches as the football world prepares for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November.
