Legendary Fan backs Celtic for Ninth Successive Title

Celtic legend and ardent supporter Chic Charnley admitted that Lennon and his team would celebrate their ninth successive title by the end of the current campaign.

Charnley, who is a Patrick Thistle Legend, said that the Hoops would get over the agonizing 2-1 loss to Steven Gerard’s men last month to seal another victorious title triumph.

The loss left Celtic with just two points adrift rivals Rangers who have a game in hand. When Charnley was quizzed as to if Celtic will win the title race despite their slim lead at the top of the log. He said; My thought is that Celtic will win the League. I’m not saying this just because I’m a fan, but because of the quality of players they have. Rangers have been knocking out the door at the past derbies, but they don’t have the players that can match the current squad at Celtic”.

Asked who was his favorite player, Charnley went on to say, ” for me. I think Callum McGregor is the best player in Scotland. His movement shows he is aware of everything on the pitch. He could as well play in the Premier League”.

Back in the 1998 season, Charnley revealed he could not forget in a hurry how Wim Jansen’s side prevented Walter Smith’s team from winning the 10th title as they lifted their first Championship title in a decade.

If Celtic can manage to win the ninth title, achieving the 10th might be quite tricky because Rangers will be determined to stop them. But as Charnley has said, the Hoops squad keeps getting stronger.

However, talking about the strength of the squad, Celtic had snapped up Polish striker Patryk Klimala in a £3.5million deal on Tuesday and also Ivorian midfield teenage sensation looks set to join this week for £2m.

Celtic are priced at 1.60 to win the Scottish Premiership title, while bitter rivals Rangers FC are set at 2.15.
