Arsenal Faces New Setbacks to Sign Players

The winter transfer window is about to close, and the Gunners have failed to make any key moves.

Several players have left the Emirates on loan, but the club has failed to bring in key players to bolster its squad.

Long-time target Dusan Valhovic has been clear that he does not want to play in London and has caused the club to waste a lot of time in a negotiation that has failed to bear fruit.

Other Gunner’s target, Bruno Guimaraes, is also slipping through their fingers. The player is apparently on the verge of completing a £30million move to Newcastle.

It has emerged that Arthur Melo’s arrival at the Emirates may not happen. It had been reported that Arsenal’s sporting director Edu and Melo’s agent had had a very productive meeting in which an agreement had been reached.

The Gunners’ idea was for Melo to join the club on loan. But Juventus would only loan the player if a clause with an option to buy is included, something Arsenal does not want.

Also, Juve would only let Melo go if they could get a replacement. The club was thinking about Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The Blues were willing to loan the player to give him more playing time. But recently, Tuchel has said that he will not lend the player and wants him to stay at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season.

Given this situation, it is unlikely that the Gunners will conclude a deal for Melo.

Finally, the club is still looking for strikers. The Gunners identified Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic as a short-term alternative. But Karim Benzema’s recent injury has made Carlo Ancelotti want to keep the player in the club’s rotation.

The Gunners are running out of options and time to reinforce the team. Arteta, for his part, has said they won’t buy players just for the sake of it.
