Manchester City dominate Manchester United with 3-0 derby victory

Manchester City cruised to a convincing 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, with Phil Foden and Erling Haaland providing the goals in a one-sided Premier League clash.

Pep Guardiola’s side showed composure, control, and ruthless finishing to extend their dominance in the Manchester derby.

The hosts took the lead in the 18th minute when Phil Foden headed home from a Jeremy Doku cross, capping off a lively start. United threatened in patches but failed to capitalise on their brief periods of possession.

City, however, were clinical, with Erling Haaland doubling the lead in the 53rd minute after another assist from Doku. The Norwegian striker struck again in the 68th minute, this time converting from Bernardo Silva’s delivery to seal the victory.

The result highlights City’s superiority, with Guardiola registering his 10th Premier League derby win, joining Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby as the only managers to reach double figures in this fixture.

For United, it was another chastening evening as their defensive frailties and lack of cutting edge up front were brutally exposed by their rivals.

United manager Rúben Amorim now faces growing pressure after yet another heavy defeat. Critics argue his tactical rigidity and failure to adapt have left the team easy to play through, with fans openly questioning how much longer he can remain in charge. The defeat leaves United searching for answers in what has been a stuttering start to their campaign.

The victory keeps City’s momentum alive, with Haaland now boasting 11 goals in six appearances this season across club and country.

For United, the gap to their rivals continues to widen, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, watching on from the directors’ box, appearing visibly unimpressed. As the full-time whistle blew, City fans celebrated a dominant win while United were left to reflect on just how far they have fallen behind.
