Manchester City held by Brighton as Chelsea lose at Fulham

Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola’s side dropped points for a third successive Premier League game, slipping further behind leaders Arsenal.

The champions dominated possession but were unable to find a late winner, prompting boos from sections of the home crowd at full-time.

The result leaves City five points adrift of Arsenal, with the gap potentially widening to eight if the Gunners beat Liverpool.

There was late drama on the south coast as Antoine Semenyo scored a stunning 95th-minute winner to secure a 3-2 victory for Bournemouth against Tottenham.

Semenyo curled a low strike into the corner from outside the box, a goal widely billed as his final act for the Cherries amid reports of a £65m move to Manchester City.

Bournemouth fans gave the forward a standing ovation as he was substituted moments later, with his move to Manchester City very much imminent, subject to medicals.

Fulham claimed local bragging rights with a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Craven Cottage in a fiery derby.

Chelsea played the majority of the match with 10 men and were unable to recover, as Fulham saw out the game confidently.

The defeat came with further scrutiny on the Blues’ direction, with Liam Rosenior watching on amid managerial changes.

Elsewhere, Everton and Wolves played out a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park in a match marred by discipline issues, including red cards for Michael Keane and Jack Grealish.

Crystal Palace and Aston Villa shared a goalless draw, while Brentford cruised to a 3-0 home win over Sunderland to cap a comfortable evening.

The latest round of fixtures had major implications at both ends of the table, with Arsenal fans welcoming City’s slip and pressure mounting on several managers. On Thursday, Arsenal faces Liverpool in the final game of the round.
