Manchester United are reportedly monitoring former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of this week’s crucial talk with their under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.
The club hierarchy is expected to meet in London on Thursday amid ongoing questions about the competence of the Dutch manager following a hugely disappointing start to the 2024-25 season.
The Red Devils are currently on a winless streak in five straight matches and have only scored five goals in the seven Premier League matches they have played this season, a form that has seen them record a meager eight points to their name and sit 14th on the log – United’s worst start to a PL season.
Local reports from Manchester have revealed that Ten Hag’s future is one of the discussions the club officials will have at the meeting on Thursday, alongside his potential replacements as Thomas Tuchel, a former Bayern Munich boss, continues to register on their radar.
The German manager led The Blues to a Champions League triumph in 2021 and has been unattached following his exit from Bayern Munich at the end of last season. And has previously held talks with Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Thomas Tuchel is reportedly open to the prospect of managing Manchester United. However, the club has other candidates on their list of potential successors to the former Ajax boss.
The club was linked with former AC Milan and Juventus manager – Max Allegri last week, but it’s unclear whether the Italian is a popular choice within the Manchester United hierarchy.
Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag isn’t ready to leave his role as a United manager after revealing that his position has not changed after overseeing a barren draw at Villa Park on Sunday.
After the international break, Manchester United will return to action with a game at Old Trafford against Brentford.
