Manchester United will support struggling Rashford – Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has revealed that the club will continue to support struggling Marcus Rashford. United’s horrid season continued as they suffered a 1-0 loss against Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park on Sunday.

Rashford was substituted after just 61 minutes after another disappointing show. The youngster was in prolific form in the previous season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions but has managed just two goals in 18 games this edition.

“I know this issue is coming up and Marcus is investing a lot, we support him and he will return to his form,” said Ten Hag.

“He works hard and he’s investing a lot. He will get back, he will recover and he gets all our support.”

In fact, Ten Hag’s team could only manage one attempt at the goal whereas the home team took four shots. Newcastle United also dominated the possession with 60%.

The Dutchman admitted the opposition was better than them and gave them credit for outplaying them.

“Today we have to say the credit’s to Newcastle,” said Ten Hag.

“After the start, where we could have scored with Alejandro Garnacho, they were better than us.

“They were more proactive and we had to go behind to go back. We allowed them one goal and in the end we fought back. We had two good opportunities but we couldn’t take a point from there.

“I will talk with my team about the reasons but we have to do better and, as I said, I am sure they will pick this up, I am sure they are resilient and they have the character to do this.”

This was United’s sixth loss in the Premier League this season as their awful run continued. The Red Devils will next take on Chelsea at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
