Milan record another comeback win against Como

AC Milan made it a hat-trick of comebacks with another victory against Como on Tuesday night in the rescheduled Serie A Week 19 game.

The Rossoneri, who had won against Juventus and Inter Milan in the Supercoppa, made it three wins from a losing position in four games.

The host had gone ahead, though Assane Diao scored, and Milan ensured another victory.

Theo Hernandez restored parity with a historic goal, making him the highest-scoring defender for AC Milan with 31 goals, surpassing the record of the legendary Paolo Maldini. A delicate Rafael Leao dink allowed Milan to complete the comeback.

The Rossoneri won the Supercoppa Italiana on Sergio Conceicao’s debut, which made the Week 19 fixture to be rescheduled.

After being held to a disappointing home draw by Cagliari in Serie A, Milan returned to winning ways on their next outing.

Mike Maignan was tested by a sudden Gabriel Strefezza strike from a distance, and Theo Hernandez prevented Assane Diao from tapping in the Alieu Fadera ball, which rolled across the face of goal.

Milan will be without Alvaro Morata, who slipped and clattered into Diao, resulting in a yellow card. This means he will be suspended against his old club, Juventus, this weekend.

Milan got their first real chance on 22 minutes when Rafael Leao surged forward to send Tijjani Reijnders through, but Jean Butez parried the effort and the Morata follow-up.

Milan suffered another injury blow when the Rossoneri lost Christian Pulisic to a muscular issue at the back of his left thigh.

After Leao was tackled on the edge of the area,  Alex Jimenez’s follow-up got blocked by the on-rushing Butez.

Como broke the deadlock at the Stadio Sinigaglia in the second half, as Caqueret sent Diao down the right to take on Theo Hernandez and surprise Maignan low at the near post.

Milan suffered another injury blow when Malick Thiaw was injured but equalized in curious circumstances. Edoardo Goldaniga headed a corner straight into the path of Theo Hernandez, who shinned the volley badly. The ball took on a strange swerve to loop into the far top corner for a historic moment that made him the Milan defender with the most Serie A goals.

A few minutes later, Conceicao’s men completed the turnaround. Tammy Abraham’s immediate through ball sent Rafael Leao sprinting forward, resisting a shove to dink the finish over the on-rushing goalkeeper.

Maignan’s great reflexes prevented Cutrone from turning in against his former club from close range on the Kempf assist as he stuck out a foot to parry at the near post.
