Bayern veteran hopeful of long-term future commitment to club

According to reports, Thomas Müller is still willing to sign a contract extension at Bayern Munich should talks with the Bavarians progress positively

Previously, it had been reported that the record champions were considering offering the 35-year-old a one-year deal to remain at the Allianz Arena but were unsure about whether Müller wanted to continue his playing career.

In addition, it was understood that Bayern would only approach Müller if he accepted reducing his €17 million-a-year contract.

Nevertheless, as stated within the report, the 35-year-old would be willing to take a fair pay cut, as he would only deem his role for the side to be sporadic.

Müller is said to understand that he can not be a regular feature for Bayern heading forward and would be happy to accept a contract that reflected this.

However, this does not guarantee that his future would be in a Bayern shirt, with a number of sides from the MLS looking to court the former German international.

While a move to Saudi Arabia has been ruled out, Müller could still follow in the footsteps of former Bayern legends such as Gerd Müller and Franz Beckenbauer by heading to the United States should an agreement with the Bundesliga leaders not be made by April.

The veteran forward has remained dedicated to. the club through the years and it makes alot of sense if he accept the part time role in the squad.

Currently as things stands, Muller does not have a particular role in Vincent Kompany’s system at Bayern Munich and thus sits on the bench for the most part of the season thus far. Much like former teammate Philipp Lahm, Bayern wants the 35-year-old to take up a job at the club after playing, but it all depends on Müller himself.
