Nathan Redmond says fans should be excited at the prospect of watching some exciting attacking displays from Southampton this season. Saints claimed their first win of the season on Saturday as they took advantage of a reduced Brighton side at the Amex.
Florin Andone was sent off in the first half and Southampton went on to win 2-0 courtesy of goals from summer signing Moussa Djenepo and Redmond. After a disappointing opening game against Burnley, which saw Saints go down 3-0, they put in a better performance during their 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool last time out.
With a win now finally on the board, Southampton can start looking up the table, although they face a wounded Manchester United on Saturday. Redmond was delighted to see Djenepo get off the mark as a Southampton player and feels the Mali international has a big role to play this season.
Indeed, Redmond believes they have a lot of talented attacking options and is certain they can put on some exciting displays for the fans. Redmond said: “I think everyone can see around the training ground how much of a fun and bubbly character he is.
“He’s still only young, but with glimpses of ability like that I think the fans should be excited for some of the forward play we’ve got going for us this year. “A fantastic finish from him, great quality and I think it should be exciting to see more of him.”
Southampton are priced at 2.60 to win their next outing when they travel to Fulham, who can be backed at 2.70, in the Carabao Cup, while the draw is available at 3.25.
