Harrison Reed is delighted to be wearing a Fulham shirt this season and wants to help the club gain promotion next May. The 24-year-old midfielder penned a season-long loan deal at Craven Cottage from Southampton on transfer deadline day and is in line to make his debut against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The Worthing-born schemer came up through the Saints youth ranks before making his first-team debut in 2013. However, he has totalled just 30 appearances in all competitions and is yet to find the back of the net.
Reed spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Norwich City, impressing during 39 Championship outings, while he was with Blackburn Rovers last term and played 33 times for Tony Mowbray’s side.
He will now join Scott Parker’s ranks and admitted he did not have to be asked twice about moving to west London. “It’s great to get it done,” he told the club’s official website.
“I heard about the interest and, from my side, I was desperate to get here and get it signed, and thankfully it’s happened.” And the former England Under-20 star is setting his sights high in terms of what the club can achieve over the next 10 months.
“The club belongs in the Premier League and hopefully I can help them get there this season,” he added. The Cottagers also managed to get a deal over the line for Cardiff City forward Bobby Reid, with the 26-year-old signing a one-year loan deal at Fulham.
It remains to be seen if the two near namesakes can help the club back to the top flight at the first attempt. They are priced at 3.10 to be promoted and 7.00 to win the Championship title.
