Netherlands, Spain play to thrilling 2-2 draw in Nations League quarter-finals

The Netherlands and Spain played to a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Nations League quarter-finals on Thursday. The match, which took place at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, saw both teams create numerous scoring opportunities in a highly entertaining encounter. Spain took the lead through Nico Williams nine minutes in, but Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo equalised for the Oranjes before the half hour. Tijjani Reinders put the home side ahead immediately after the restart, but Spain equalized through Mikel Merino’s late strike. 

The match was marred by a red card for Netherlands’ Jorrel Hato, who was dismissed for a foul on Robin Le Normand with nine minutes on the clock.
