New look Chelsea opens Premier League matchday 22 in London Derby – Football

After a very busy January transfer window ended, Chelsea will hope that their numerous January transfer signings will change the team’s fortune as they go deep into the second part of the 2022/2023 Premier League season.

The blues have undergone a series of changes in their administration this season, and it has reflected in the change of manager as Graham Potter came in in place of Thomas hooker earlier in the season.

However, it hasn’t been going well for the blues, who are seated in 10th position in the Premier League table and points away from there for Champions League places.

New owner Todd Boehly consistently mentioned the need to rebuild, and that’s what Chelsea has moved towards, with eight players brought into Stamford Bridge. This spending spree was capped by the arrival of Enzo Fernandes in a big money move from Benfica on the deadline day.

The Argentine joins the rest of Chelsea’s January import, including Malo Gusto, Joao Felix, Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk, Andrey Santos, and Noni Madueke.

Chelsea’s Friday clash against Fulham can’t come at a better time after Saturday’s drab draw at Anfield gave a glimpse of Mykhailo Mudryk’s brilliance and potential for the Blues.

The forward who arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk shone in his cameo debut; Benoit Badiashile has already settled in defense, although Joao Felix’s red card in his debut at Fulham (the first leg) means he will miss Friday’s clash – the third and final fixture he will miss due to suspension.

Since the January 12 fixture at Craven Cottage, Chelsea has beaten Crystal Palace and held Liverpool. They look poised for another victory on Friday, one that will take them as high as sixth, depending on other results.

Other games will include Tottenham hosting Manchester City while league leaders face Everton in Sean Dyche’s debut as the Toffees boss.
