Neymar promises better performances in the upcoming season under new PSG manager Christophe Galtier

The summer transfer window has seen several erratic rumours of Paris Saint Germain star Neymar Jr. leaving the club. The Brazilian superstar was heavily linked with Chelsea. But recently Neymar, himself shared that he is ready to up his game in the upcoming season under their new manager Christophe Galtier.

He believes that he has trained hard enough and that will reflect in his goal scoring ability this season. Neymar has endured a very mixed bag campaign at the Parc des Princes since he moved to Ligue 1 from Barcelona in a world record transfer fee. In his five years of stay which has been marred by injuries and absences, Neymar has featured in 30 or more games in only one season.

Neymar has often received criticism from the PSG fans as they expect more from him. The PSG fans and management wanted to win the Champions League but the Parisians were knocked out in the second round of the competition and Neymar was criticised heavily. While a move away from Paris is on the cards, Neymar shares his piece of mind on Facebook as he wrote, “This year, all the shots will come in. Free kicks, strikes from outside the area, headers. I feel good. I’m confident. I trained a lot during these holidays.”

Neymar was one of the most prized possessions for FC Barcelona back in 2017 and hence he was brought in Paris to help the team win their maiden Champions League. A dream that the Brazilian has failed to achieve with PSG in his five years of stay. While they played the finals in 2020 which they lost against Bayern Munich under Thomas Tuchel, other than that they have been pretty sub standard with their performances in Europe and it is definitely a cause of concern for the team management as they broke the bank to sign Neymar and now have brought him reinforcements like Lionel Messi and several other players to pick up the pace in winning the European title. But still they have been far from their destined target.

The superstar forward still has four long years left on his current contract and new manager Christophe Galtier and the management needs to take a call on him. With clubs like Chelsea waiting on the wings to pounce on him this summer, PSG will have to be very careful in making a decision this summer.
