PSG keen on Konate signing as Ligue 1 giants plan major summer swoop

Paris Saint-Germain have made contact with the representatives of Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, with the view to a summer move, according to latest reports in the french media.

The reports gathered strong Interest over the weeekend as the Parisiens eye the 25 year old France international.

Now, with the Ligue 1 champions looking to recruit a centre-back in the summer, they also will be anticipating the potential departure of captain Marquinhos who became lately the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia.

Further reports revealed that contact has now been made with Konaté’s camp in order to advance a deal ahead of the summer transfer window.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is at the heart of the attempts to bring the Liverpool defender to the Parc des Princes, with the player in question keen on a return to his hometown.

Other sources confirms the rumoured interest might be as a delay in contract negotiations between the player (Konate) and Liverpool as his current deal expires at the end of next season.

If the rumoured imminent departure of Marquinhos were to be confirmed, then PSG may decide to go all in for the defender.

As of now, nothing concrete has been confirmed but  it remains to be seen as nothing is deemed impossible in the transfer market.

PSG turn their attentions to Europe following their victory over Toulouse FC on Saturday evening (0-1).

Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain get back to Champions League action against Stade Brestois on Wednesday evening (21:00).

With a convincing first leg victory (0-3), the current Ligue 1 leaders are in a good position to qualify for the last 16, but have to navigate another 90 minutes against Éric Roy’s Pirates, who’ll be planning to give everything in order to try and overturn a hefty lead at the Parc des Princes in Wednesday night.
