Rodgers urge his side to make history ahead of vital showdown in Munich

Despite resting several first-team stars on Saturday evening, Celtic grabbed a routine 3-0 win over Dundee United.

While they are firm favourites to clinch the Premiership crown, the Hoops’ Champions League future is hanging by a thread following a 1-2 home defeat against Bayern Munich in the first leg.

It will be a colossal battle for Brendan Rodgers’ boys who must secure a two-goal victory on Tuesday night at Allianz Arena to progress to the Round of 16 of the competition.

The Bavarians secured an emphatic 3-0 win when they hosted the Glasgow side in 2017, and the Bhoys could undergo a similar fate considering their compulsion to play attacking football.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has issued a rally cry to his team to play without fear and have no regrets against Bayern Munich with the hosts reportedly struggling with the fitness of key man Harry Kane.

Rodgers’ side have travelled to Germany 2-1 down in the Champions League knockout phase play-off but Daizen Maeda’s late goal at Parkhead has given the Hoops fans a glimmer of hop before Tuesday’s second leg.

Celtic are in the knockout rounds for the first time in 12 years and Rodgers feels the pressure is off ahead of their second leg at the Allianz Arena.

Speaking in the pressers ahead of the crucial showdown tonight, Rodgers acknowledged how his side has done very well to get to playoffs.

” When you get to this point, you want to play top-level teams. This is a team that has world-class players.

“I think it’s just spelling out that you come to this level and you have to play without any fear. He added

Rodgers believes Celtic have learned major lessons from their 7-1 defeat by Borussia Dortmund in match day two.

With a other German opposition in sightz the Hoops will hope to avoid a repeat of such this time around as they aim to make history in advancing to the round of 16.
