PSG: Dembélé will be under observation

European champions Paris Saint-Germain have given an update on the current Ballon d’Or holder, Ousmane Dembélé.

The Ligue 1 champions revealed in a statement that the star player, who was forced off early on Sunday in a league clash against Paris FC, will remain under medical care over the next few days.

Dembélé was forced off in the 27th minute of the game against Paris FC, which PSG eventually won 2-1 to wrap up their fifth straight Ligue 1 title. He was Replaced by Gonçalo Ramos.

According to reports, the PSG talisman is suffering from a “muscle strain in his right calf”.  The club assured that the player will remain under treatment over the next few days.

They will be hoping he is at least fit for the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30 in Budapest.

This is a minor scare for PSG, 13 days before the Champions League final, as the medical team will be doing all they can for him to at least get 60 minutes of action against the Gunners, who have never won the title.

This is also a concern for France as they will need the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is just a month away.

Speaking during a press conference, Luis Enrique reassured everyone, saying there was nothing much to say about Dembélé as they will have to wait for further tests.

“We have to wait until tomorrow (Monday) to know for sure, but I think it’s just fatigue,”  he stated.

PSG, who have already qualified for the Champions League final consecutively, will be hoping to retain the title against the English side, who last got into the final 20 years ago, losing 2-1 to Barcelona.

With the league already wrapped up by the French champions, their attention is now on the final in Budapest, while Arsenal will hope to wrap up the league and eventually win it for the first time in two decades this weekend.
