Paris Saint-Germain have a keen interest in Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano and have reportedly opened talks with the 27-year-old French defender.
The interest has been described as “serious” by Florian Plettenberg as
Upamecano could be on the move this summer.
The Frenchman can have negotiations with any club come January and sign a pre-contract as his Bayern Munich deal expires at the end of the season.
Although the Bundesliga champions are intent on extending his deal. This wws confirmed by Max Eberl, but there is a chance that the France international will leave on a free transfer.
With a pre-contract agreement with another club from January likely to happen, Plettenberg revealed that the centre-back has held talks with other clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have been attracting free transfers to their squad, with the latest being star player Kylian Mbappé, who joined from PSG in 2023. Madrid appear to be one of the defender’s high-profile suitors.
According to Foot Mercato, there is a verbal agreement in place between Upamecano and the La Liga side that are likely to face competition from PSG.
Les Parisiens are in the market for a defender and are “seriously involved” in the deal, should he not extend his deal with the Bavarian side.
It was reported that Bayern Munich want the former RB Leipzig defender to extend his stay at the club until 2030, but the release clause remains a sticking point.
Meanwhile, PSG may end up selling Achraf Hakimi to Real Madrid.
Hakimi, who is a key member of Luis Enrique’s squad, recently finished inside the top 10 of the Ballon d’Or and also won the African Player of the Year for the first time in his career.
The Moroccan international, who is currently injured, is looking to return to participate in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is taking place in his native Morocco.
Although things seemed settled for now with the club level, having signed a contract extension at the start of this year, which runs until 2029.
He might, however, not see that deal. Earlier in his career, which is agent Alejandro Camano has also affirmed.
Camano, who pointed out that Hakimi is happy at PSG, said nothing is impossible in football.
