Raul Jimenez set for Wolves return after World Cup

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the surprise signing of veteran striker Raúl Jiménez, bringing the Mexican international back to Molineux on a free transfer. 

The 35-year-old has signed a two-year contract after leaving Fulham at the end of his deal, becoming Wolves’ latest addition as they prepare for life in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League.

Jiménez has already completed his medical and is understood to have an option for a further year in his contract. 

Wolves moved quickly to secure the striker’s return, making him their second major free-agent signing of the summer after the arrival of former England defender Kieran Trippier, who also joined on a two-year deal following his departure from Newcastle United.

The move marks an emotional homecoming for Jiménez, who enjoyed some of the finest years of his career during his first spell at Wolves between 2018 and 2023. 

The striker scored 57 goals in 166 appearances for the club and was twice named Wolves’ Player of the Year.

His performances helped establish him as one of the club’s modern-day fan favourites before his eventual move away from Molineux.

Jiménez arrives after a productive three-year spell at Fulham, where he scored 31 goals in 115 matches across all competitions. 

During the 2025-26 campaign, he contributed 10 goals and three assists in 43 appearances, demonstrating that he remains a reliable attacking option despite entering the latter stages of his career.

The Mexican forward also brings a wealth of experience and silverware to Wolves. During his career, he won league titles with Benfica and lifted the Spanish Super Cup while at Atlético Madrid. 

On the international stage, Jiménez has been a key figure for Mexico, winning two CONCACAF Gold Cups and a CONCACAF Nations League title.

For now, Jiménez’s focus remains on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he is expected to play a leading role for co-hosts Mexico. 

After completing his international duties, he will return to Wolves for pre-season preparations as the club looks to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
