Ronaldo scores 700th club career goal

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700 Club career goal, while Arsenal beat Liverpool at the weekend to return to the top spot in the Premier League.

The two games played on Sunday saw Arsenal face Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, having lost just one match in their previous eight. The Gunners had managed to win the remaining seven games topping the table before they were pipped by Manchester City on Saturday after the defending champions defeated Southampton 4-0.

Mikel Arteta’s side started brightly as Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli scored in the first minute of the game. Liverpool responded midway through Darwin Nunez in the first half.

 Arsenal made it 2-1 at halftime through Bukayo Saka. Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino returned the tie to parity in the 53rd minute, but the Gunners secured all three points with 14 minutes left.

Thiago was penalized by referee Micheal Oliver in the 74th minute, and Bukayo Saka stepped up to secure the win, Arsenal’s 8th in nine games so far.

Arsenal returns to the top of the Premier League table with 24 points from nine games, one above Manchester City in second place with 23 points.

Meanwhile, there are reports about the possibility of reviewing some incidents that happened in the game between Arsenal and Liverpool, according to a statement released by an official of the FA.

“We are aware of an incident that took place during the match between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with the match officials and will review the details of the incident.” the official said.

Elsewhere, Manchester United thumped Everton 2-1, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a record 700 Club career goal. His goal was the game-winner after Anthony canceled out Alex Iwobi’s opener for Everton.

Manchester United are in fifth with 15 points with the win, while Everton sits in 12th position with ten points.
