Zidane explains celebration of Olise’s goal against Belgium

France manager Zinédine Zidane has revealed the reason behind Michael Olise’s the late goal celebration against Belgium.

 France eventually got the win to continue Zidane’s hundred percent record, winning the tightly fought game in Brussels against Belgium in the UEFA Nations League clash.

The encounter went into the dying stages with the 2018 World Cup winners well tied at 0-0, despite hacominglose on several occasions, notably striking the bar and the post.

Zidane began his tenure on a winning note as France manager with a 1-0 win over Turkey on Friday, thanks to a second-half goal from Kylian Mbappé, who is now injured.

Les Bleus had to rely on a moment of brilliance from Olise against Belgium. The France attacker used his shoulder to control the ball before driving to the edge of the Belgian box unopposed and curling it into Senne Lammens’ far corner.

Zidane celebrated the goal, running down the touchline and kicking a ball placed on a cone. 

When asked the reason behind the celebration, the former Real Madrid manager admitted not knowing what he did with a laugh 

“I followed his run from when he started dribbling. It was an incredible action, and then I saw the ball. Voilà! It was maybe a bit ridiculous, but there you go,” he added.

 Zidane rang some changes in the squad by fielding a refreshed line-up, handing full debuts to Lucas Da Cunha, Jérémy Jacquet, Andy Diouf and Esteban Lepaul.

Les Bleus exerted dominance for much of the game and eventually got the job done in the final two minutes.

Zidane is expected to relish the return leg in France, hoping to get a double on the Red Devils.

France currently top Group A with six points. Belgium and Italy occupy second and third with three points ,each, while Turkey sit bottom of the table.
