McIlroy hypes Team Europe

Rory McIlroy is openly expressing strong support and high enthusiasm for Team Europe ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, New York, scheduled for September 26-28.

The Northern Irishman is focused on helping Team Europe achieve something extraordinary, winning an away Ryder Cup, which he regards as one of the game’s greatest challenges.

Having already qualified automatically as the first for the European team, thanks to a stellar 2025 season including a career Grand Slam complete at the Masters, McIlroy is leading Europe’s charge with high hopes after their 2023 Rome victory.

McIlroy’s dedication is clear as he views this Ryder Cup as a pivotal goal following an outstanding individual year. He cited the importance of the team’s continuity, pointing out that 11 of the 12 players returning from the victorious 2023 squad, combined with new talent like Rasmus Hojgaard, add strength to the team.

McIlroy believes this stability and collective experience work strongly in Europe’s favour against the daunting home crowd at Bethpage Black.

The team is vibrant and ready, with McIlroy emphasizing they possess all the ingredients needed for success, including leadership from captain Luke Donald and his vice-captains.

Reflecting on his Ryder Cup journey, McIlroy is the most experienced player on either side in this edition, marking his eighth consecutive appearance.

He recalls the memorable “Miracle at Medinah” win on U.S. soil in 2012 and speaks factually about the challenge of fighting on American turf where the home team has dominated for the past decade.

Yet, he remains optimistic, focused on managing the team’s response and reactions to the hostile environment. McIlroy’s leadership and experience will be key in helping Europe break the away-win drought in a high-pressure setting.

McIlroy’s support for Team Europe goes beyond words; he is actively preparing through upcoming tournaments like the Irish Open and BMW PGA Championship to bring his game to peak form.

His goal for 2025 is not just personal success but to help Team Europe successfully defend their Ryder Cup crown, aiming to make this year his golden Ryder Cup year.
