Team Woods Finish as Runners-up At PNC Championship

Tiger and Charlie Woods, once again, teamed up at this year’s PNC Championship, finishing as runners-up in a thrilling playoff against Bernhard and Jason Langer. This marks the second time Team Woods has secured a second-place finish in this prestigious event, having previously done so in 2021.

The tournament, held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, was filled with excitement, particularly due to Charlie Woods’ remarkable achievement of making his first hole-in-one. On the par-3 fourth hole, Charlie struck a 7-iron from 176 yards that bounced once before rolling into the cup, a moment that Tiger described as “the thrill of a lifetime” for both father and son. This ace not only electrified the crowd but also propelled Team Woods into contention for the title.

After a strong first round, where they shot a co-leading score of 59, Team Woods continued their momentum into the second round, posting a remarkable 57. This brought their total to an impressive 28 under par, tying them with the Langer duo at the end of regulation play. The playoff ensued after both teams finished with matching scores, leading to an intense showdown on the first extra hole.

In the playoff, Bernhard Langer sealed the victory with an eagle putt on the par-5 18th hole, demonstrating his consistent excellence in this event. The win marked Langer’s sixth title at the PNC Championship, further solidifying his legacy in this family-oriented tournament. Despite their loss, Tiger Woods expressed pride in his son’s performance and potential, noting that Charlie’s skills continue to develop impressively at just 15 years old.

The PNC Championship is unique as it pairs major champions with their family members in a scramble format. The event has become a beloved holiday tradition for many golf fans and players alike. For Team Woods, while they are yet to be winners, their performances have shown promise for future tournaments. Tiger Woods himself remarked on their chances of winning in upcoming years, quite confident that their time will come soon.
