Aaron Rodgers Reacts to Packers’ Decision to Draft Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers traded up from No. 30 to No. 26 to pick Utah State quarterback Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft. This shocked every football fan and Aaron Rodgers recently had something to say about it.

This is the first time that the Packers took a position player in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2005. Back then they drafted Aaron Rodgers with the No. 24 pick overall. Brett Favre was still their starting quarterback when they drafted Rodgers and Favre and Rodgers have a lot in common, not just their Super Bowl rings.

Aaron Rodgers didn’t get why the Packers wanted to draft a quarterback. The most surprising part of this decision is that the Packers had immediate roster needs.

Rodgers expressed interest in working with Jordan Love to develop him though. He does want to have a strong relationship with him, just like what he has had with other backup quarterbacks over his career.

“It’s the same that I’ve done with all of my backup quarterbacks, and I feel great about those relationships I’ve developed over the years,” Rodgers explained last Friday.

“Many of them are still really close friends. I consider Matt Flynn a really close friend. I still have a lot of contact over guys I’ve played with over the years. I’ve had really great relationships over the years with those guys and expect to have that type of relationship with Jordan.”

The signal-caller also said that Love has no blame at all, as he didn’t ask to be drafted by the Packers.

“He’s just coming in, exciting about his opportunity. We had a great conversation the day after the draft, and I’m excited to work with him. He seems like a really great kid with a good head on his shoulders.”
