YouTube star, Jake Paul, has signed a new deal with the Professional Fighters League and would be making a move to MMA. The 25-year-old has since ventured off online fame to start a career in combat sports. He currently has an unbeaten record from 6 boxing matches and is now set to conquer MMA.
Speaking on his new deal, Paul made it known that he was coming to disrupt the scene by ensuring that fighters are compensated well after each fight. He has always been a vocal critic of how much UFC pays its fighter, and he is hoping to use his new deal to make a change, albeit in another league.
“I personally will be deeply involved in making sure the PFL is the best place in the world for fighters; with the launch of this new division, our fighters will be receiving 50 percent of the revenue,” he said.
“A partnership that allows fighters to be individual and for them to monetize their own sponsorship deals, which, as we know, isn’t allowed in the UFC.
“I’ve already disrupted boxing, but now it’s time to disrupt in MMA, I know this is such a tough sport, and it’s not going to be easy. But if I did it in boxing, I can do it in MMA.”
On his next fight or potential opponent, Paul mentioned that he has offered former UFC fighter Nate Diaz two deals, one for boxing and another MMA fixture: “I’m so dedicated that I’ve offered Nate Diaz a two-fight deal. First we box, then six months later we fight in the PFL SmartCage,” said Paul.
“If that’s not balls, then I don’t know what is,” Paul said about the offer. “Nate Diaz, I’m down to fight you in your own damn sport. Let’s make it happen.”
At this point, it is left for Diaz, who has not announced the end of his retirement, to accept or reject the offer.
But with the new move, Paul has demonstrated again that he hopes to have an amazing fighting career and is willing to go the lengths to have that.
