Tennis star Emma Raducanu returns to the gym

Emma Raducanu’s return to professional tennis remains uncertain following her absence from the Macau tennis exhibition due to hand and ankle procedures. However, she has taken a positive step forward by resuming light training in the gym, aiming to rebuild her strength for a potential comeback.

The British tennis star had to miss both the French Open and Wimbledon due to the medical interventions on her hands and ankle. Recently, she shared a video reel on her Instagram, showcasing various exercises and engaging in red light therapy, reflecting on her US Open triumph in 2021.

Having been away from physical activity for several months due to her injuries, Raducanu expressed in her post how it was “nice to be reintroduced” with the gym equipment. As of now, she is not part of the Flushing Meadows tournament, meaning she might require a wildcard entry if she plans to return during the US hard court swing.

Speculations point to the Australian Open as her potential next Grand Slam appearance, with the possibility of participating in smaller tournaments to improve her ranking before the end of the year, if she decides to compete before 2024.

During her break from training, she spent time with Carlo Agostineli, her rumored boyfriend, enjoying trips to Greece and attending his birthday celebration at an exclusive London club. Raducanu likely hopes that finding happiness in her personal life will positively impact her performance on the tennis court.

In May, the 20-year-old athlete had previously explained on Instagram the reasons behind her decision to take a break from the sport for a period of time.

Raducanu wrote: “It is safe to say the last ten months have been difficult as I dealt with a recurring injury on a bone of both hands.

I tried my best to manage the pain and play through it for most of this year and end of last year by reducing practice load dramatically, missing weeks of training as well as cutting last season short to try to heal it. Unfortunately it is not enough. I’m having a minor procedure done on both hands to resolve the issues.

I am disappointed to share I will be out for the next few months and while I am at it I will have another minor procedure that is due on my ankle.

It pains me that I will miss the summer events and I tried to downplay the issues so I thank all my fans who continued to support me when you did not know the facts. Looking forward to seeing you all back out there.”
