Anthony Davis feels the Lakers would have been in a better position this season had he played more matches together with LeBron James and Russell Westbrook

The Los Angeles Lakers have been very below par this season as they languish at the eleventh position in the Western Conference. Their recent 129-118 loss to the Denver Nuggets meant that they are now on a six-game losing streak in the current season and all their hopes of making it to the playoffs through the play-in are fading away.

In LeBron James’ absence, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook tried their best but Nikola Jokic and his men were just the superior team on all fronts.

Their star trio of Davis, James and Westbrook has not had the chance to play matches at stretch due to injury concerns all throughout the season. Overall the Purple and Gold army has been massive underachievers this season.

The Lakers will see this season as a missed opportunity. They will feel that had all their players stayed healthy they could have achieved greatness this season with the combinations that they had on their roster.

Davis recently spoke about the Lakers’ missed opportunities and the difficulties that they had this season. He shared how he, LeBron and Westbrook hardly get matches together.

Speaking on the same he said, “We never did all year. I think us three – me, Bron and Russ… played what, 15, 21 games together? We didn’t expect us to only have 21 games together. It’s just been that kind of year… In the time we do play together, we do look really good…”

Davis shared how it is painful for him to imagine what they could have achieved had they played consistently throughout the season. However, he also adds how the team is good enough to win basketball games even without him or LeBron not playing.

“It’s been tough not being able to fully reach our potential as far as us three being on the floor and seeing what we really could be. With that being said, we also have enough even to win basketball games even if he [James] don’t play, I don’t play,” Davis added.

Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook has played only 21 matches together this season. It has been the difference-maker for the Lakers this season and speaks volumes about their dependence on the three players.
