Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant hopes that the issue regarding Kyrie Irving’s participation will be resolved soon

The Brooklyn Nets were the favourites from last season as they assembled a super team featuring some of the top players in the NBA. They had talents like Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Blake Griffin and others. However, injuries to both Harden and Kyrie derailed a perfectly set up campaign for the Nets as they lost to eventual champions, Milwaukee Bucks.

This summer once again they have strengthened their fort by bringing back LaMarcus Aldridge and signing Australian superstar Patty Mills. The duo will add immense quality to their rotation and even allow more resting for their stars. Hence this season the fans are looking forward to the Nets and hoping that none of their players gets injured through the course of the season.

But things this season have taken a different turn as Kyrie Irving remains unvaccinated and will miss the home games for the Nets at the Barclay Center. This happens due to the New York City mandate requiring vaccination to enter certain large indoor spaces. However, the star point guard has joined training which is a good sign for the franchise as it shows that they are working on the issue.

However, the Nets would always want their full-strength team to feature throughout the season. Losing someone like Kyrie even for the home games will be a massive blow for any franchise. It will be an early blow to their Championship chances and will also break the other players mentally. Recently Kevin Durant shared how he wants Kyrie to feature for the Nets for the entire season. He said that the things will get sorted first allowing Kyrie to play for the entire season.

“That’s always tough when guys are in and out of the lineup, especially a starter like Kyrie. I don’t know exactly what the plan is going forward right now,” Durant said.

“I’m sure they’re still making decisions. That’s a better question for Steve (Nash), Sean (Marks), and Kyrie, and they’ll fill me in when they make a decision.

“At least he can practice, but we want him here for the whole thing. We want him here for games, home games, practices, away games, shootarounds, all of it. So, hopefully, we figure this thing out.”

The Nets have been pretty good in both their preseason matches, winning both against the Los Angeles Lakers and the defending champions Brooklyn Nets. They won 118-115 against the Bucks as Durant led the charge with 18 points. However for now, the focus is on Kyrie Irving and the situation surrounding him.
