Former teammate Damon Jones confident of the LeBron James led Lakers overcoming the tough Suns challenge

It is literally a do or die fixture for the Los Angeles Lakers when they step on the court against the Phoenix Suns in Game 6. The Suns are already leading the series 3-2 and a win will seal the deal for Chris Paul and company.

While the Lakers will play to keep the series alive in Game 6 at the Staples Center, there are concerns over Anthony Davis’ availability as Frank Vogel cleared it to be game time decision. The Brow suffered a groin strain in Game 4 and did not feature in the last defeat.

With AD’s availability up in the air and the Suns looking in great shape, people are already writing them off. However, in a recent interview, Damon Jones who is a former teammate of LeBron James spoke about the winning mentality that Lebron brings to these high profile matches. He feels that ‘the King’ has done it in the past and can do it again in the upcoming crucial matches.

James has been in this situation before with the Cleveland Cavaliers and he helped them clinch the title against the Golden State Warriors. Damon Jones spoke about that winning pedigree of James which will be crucial here as well.

“Yes, for him, because he has never been in this position. But I am gonna tell you one thing, he is going to be ready to play tomorrow night, the mentality he is gonna play with tomorrow is one may AD plays or doesn’t play because he understands their backs are against the wall.”

“If he is able to go out and do what I have seen him do in the past in big games like tomorrow will be, I think the Lakers will be okay with or without Anthony Davis,” said Jones.

James is the kind of player whom you simply cannot write off especially in an elimination match. He may have passed his prime but still, he can be the player to keep the Lakers alive in this series. Anthony Davis’ health concern will be a huge problem but if the Lakers have to progress to the next round they will need Lebron and others such as Kyle Kuzma, Dennis Schroder, etc to step up and perform on the big night.
